LSUA is led by a Chancellor, assisted by three senior executive officers: the Provost and Vice Chancellor for Academic Affairs, the Vice Chancellor for Enrollment and Student Engagement, and the Executive Vice Chancellor for Finance and Administrative Services. The university’s academic structure is comprised of five colleges and two schools: the College of Business, the College of Health and Human Services, the College of Liberal Arts, the College of Natural Science and Mathematics, the College of Social Sciences, the School of Education, and the School of Nursing.

LSUA is a member institution of Louisiana State University (LSU), a system of institutions that includes four universities: LSU of Alexandria (LSUA), LSU at Eunice (LSUE), LSU at Shreveport (LSUS), and the flagship institution, Louisiana State University and Agricultural and Mechanical College (LSU A&M). LSU also includes the Pennington Biomedical Research Center; the Louisiana State University Agricultural Center; Louisiana State University Health Sciences Center – New Orleans; and Louisiana State University Health Sciences Center – Shreveport. LSU is governed by a Board of Supervisors, charged in Article VIII Section 7(A) of the Louisiana Constitution of 1974 with supervising and managing the institutions within the system. LSUA is also subject to the policies and directives of the Louisiana Board of Regents, a state agency created by the 1974 Louisiana Constitution.
