Cybersecurity Technology, BS

The Bachelor of Science in Cybersecurity Technology equips students with the essential knowledge and skills needed to protect information systems and networks from cyber threats. The degree focuses on a blend of theoretical and practical learning, providing students with a strong foundation in cybersecurity principles, computing, and information technology. The curriculum covers key areas such as ethical hacking, digital forensics, risk assessment, incident response, and cloud security while emphasizing theoretical and practical learning. Students will develop critical thinking, problem-solving abilities, and effective communication skills through hands-on projects, collaborative assignments, and real-world case studies. This degree prepares graduates for various roles in the cybersecurity field, ensuring they are ready to address complex cybersecurity challenges and safeguard digital infrastructures in both private and public sectors.

Student Learning Outcomes 

Graduates will be able to:

  1. Analyze a complex computing problem and apply principles of computing and other relevant disciplines to identify solutions.

  2. Design, implement, and evaluate a computing-based solution to meet a given set of computing requirements in the context of the program’s discipline.

  3. Communicate effectively in a variety of professional contexts.

  4. Recognize professional responsibilities and make informed judgments in computing practice based on legal and ethical principles.

  5. Function effectively as a member or leader of a team engaged in activities appropriate to the program’s discipline.

  6. Apply security principles and practices to maintain operations in the presence of risks and threats.

Admission Requirements 

Students must meet all requirements for admission to the university. The BS in Cybersecurity Technology has no separate or special admissions requirements. 

Degree Requirements 

  1. Students must complete all of the requirements pertaining to baccalaureate degrees as prescribed in Degree Requirements. 

  2. Students must complete at least 30 hours at the 3000-level or above, at least nine of which must be at the 4000 level. 

  3. Students are required to make a grade of “C” or higher in all courses in the Major Requirements section of the cybersecurity technology curriculum.
