Significant Disabilities (Grades 1-12) Certification

The Post-Baccalaureate Certificate in Significant Disabilities allows individuals who are already state-certified teachers to complete the coursework required for add-on certification in Significant Disabilities (Grades 1-12).
Student Learning Outcomes
- Program completers know the subject matter they are to teach.
- Program completers will develop differentiated lessons that reflect learning-theory and research-based strategies.
- Program completers will apply the basic principles of teaching and learning.
Required Courses (21 Hours)
Graduation Requirements
- A grade of “C” or higher in each required course
- A GPA of 2.5 or higher for all required coursework
- Have passed PRAXIS Exam 5545
- Have completed a three credit-hour internship with students with significant disabilities or three years of successful teaching of students with significant disabilities.
Requirements for State Certification
- Be certified to teach in the State of Louisiana
- Have completed all Graduation Requirements for the PBC in Significiant Disabiltiies (Grades 1-12)
