EDCI 4400 - Content, Methods, and Materials for Elementary Mathematics II Credits: 3 Lecture Hours: 2 Laboratory Hours: 3 Interaction with theoretical and historical perspectives, standards- based mathematical content, research-based pedagogical practices, and selected materials for the purpose of preparing teacher candidates to become proactive educators who positively impact the mathematical knowledge, skills, and dispositions of diverse learners in varied and multicultural elementary school settings. Content focuses on fractions, decimals, and percents, addressing concepts and operations, relationships, proportional and algebraic reasoning, geometry, measurement, data analysis, probability, patterns, functions, and relations. Field based experiences required. Offered FA, SP.
Prerequisite(s): a grade of “C” or higher in EDCI 3400 and admission to the Professional Teacher Education Program; or permission of the chair of the Department of Education.
