BIOL 4102 - Applications of GPS and GIS in Field Biology

A project-based course designed to give students hands-on experience with collection of geo-referenced data using mapping GPS units, and to problem solving and data analysis using a Geographic Information System (GIS).  Emphasis will be on sampling techniques, spatial data analysis, and map creation useful to ecologists, natural resource managers, and environmental scientists.  This class requires work outdoors in the field as well as time in the computer laboratory.

Prerequisite(s): Completion of MATH 2011  and permission of instructor.
