ECHO 3000 - Introduction to Echocardiography

This course explores the care of the patient undergoing cardiac procedures with emphasis on care of the echocardiography patient. Students will be introduced to hospital safety, infection control, medical ethics and law, patient confidentiality, patient rights, and dress codes and grooming standards for health professionals. This course is also an introduction to special types of echocardiography to include M-mode, Doppler, color Doppler, 2-D, and 3-D echocardiography, and introduction to scanning techniques and tomographic views, B-mode image, pulsed and continuous wave Doppler, flow imaging with emphasis on cardiac pathology and the echocardiography evaluation.  Offered FA.

Prerequisite(s): Acceptance into the ECHO program or permission of the instructor.
Corequisite(s): CVTE 3001, ECHO 3001, CVTE 3002, and ECHO 3002.
