Prerequisite(s): This course is designed to introduce students to the principles and practices of conservation law enforcement, with a focus on the protection and management of natural resources. The course covers a range of topics, including the role of game wardens and other conservation law enforcement officers, the principles of conservation and natural resource management, and the major laws and regulations that relate to these fields. Students will also learn about the techniques and strategies used by conservation law enforcement officers, including patrols, investigations, arrests, and court proceedings. In addition, the course will explore the use of technology in conservation law enforcement, including GPS, mapping software, and other tools that are used to track and monitor natural resources. The course will also cover the interpersonal skills that are necessary for effective conservation law enforcement, including communication, conflict resolution, and cultural competency.
