HESC 1006 - Medical Coding I Credits: 3 Lecture Hours: 3 Laboratory Hours: 0 This course is designed to provide an overview of CPT and ICD-10-CM coding systems. Emphasis will be placed on the in-depth understanding of ICD-10-CM coding and classification systems in order to assign valid diagnostic and/or procedure codes. Integrated throughout the course will be the development of use of practical situations and critical decision making skills imperative to the professional medical coder. Offered SU.
Prerequisite(s): a grade of “C” or higher or enrollment in HESC 1400 .
