NURS 1150 - Paramedic - ASN Theory Credits: 4 Lecture Hours: 4 Laboratory Hours: 0 The purpose of this course is to introduce and emphasize professional role development while engaging in the transition from a practicing Paramedic to a registered nurse. The nursing process is introduced and used as a framework to expand on prior cognitive and experiential knowledge and skills of the Paramedic. Professional and health care concepts related to role transition will be emphasized along with select health and illness concepts to further develop clinical judgment and critical thinking behaviors of the professional nurse. Students who pass this course with a grade of “C” or higher, along with the corequisites, will progress into Clinical Nursing III. Students who do not pass the course or one of the required corequisites will be required to enroll in Clinical Nursing II. Offered FA, SP.
Prerequisite(s): A grade of “C” or higher in ENGL 1001 , ENGL 1002 , MATH 1021 or MATH 1018 , CHEM 1001 or CHEM 1201 , BIOL 1161 , BIOL 1162 , MATH 2011 , and PSYC 2070 . Paramedic License with National Registry of Emergency Medical Technicians and approved application for clinical from Louisiana State Board of Nursing. Corequisite(s): NURS 1151 and NURS 1152 .
