NURS 1152 - Paramedic - ASN Pharmacology Credits: 2 Lecture Hours: 2 Laboratory Hours: 0 The course introduces basic concepts of pharmacology, dosage and calculation, and the role of the nurse in medication administration of select drugs. The nursing process will be utilized as a framework to examine select drug classifications with emphasis on selected exemplars.
Students who pass this course with a grade of “C” or higher, along with the corequisites, will progress into Clinical Nursing III. Students who do not pass the course or one of the required corequisites will be required to enroll in Clinical Nursing II. Offered FA, SP.
Prerequisite(s): A grade of “C” or higher in ENGL 1001 , ENGL 1002 , MATH 1021 or MATH 1018 , CHEM 1001 or CHEM 1201 , BIOL 1161 , BIOL 1162 , MATH 2011 , and PSYC 2070 . Paramedic License with National Registry of Emergency Medical Technicians and approved application for clinical from Louisiana State Board of Nursing. Corequisite(s): NURS 1150 and NURS 1151 .
